Sydney has, therefore, a lot of waterfront with many individual harbors, marinas, and beaches, offering many leisure activities. Much of the transportation is by water. Circular Quay, the hub of Sydney Harbor (with the iconic Sydney Opera House at the front), is the founding site for Sydney and for Australia. It is situated on the Brisbane River that plays a role in its urban planning and architecture, in the local transportation, and in its urban life. (Unlike in the case of Sydney, though, the river serves just local river navigation.)
